Description
Description :
The adiabatic batch reactor represents a sealed system devoid of input and output streams, functioning under specific conditions : adiabatic (where the temperature of the reaction mass fluctuates), perfectly mixed (ensuring uniform composition throughout the reaction mixture), and constant volume (wherein the volume of the reaction mixture remains stable, with minimal density change).
This setup serves to investigate catalytic homogeneous reactions under adiabatic circumstances.
The apparatus comprises a 1-liter Dewar flask equipped with a stirrer and double insulation via ceramic wool.
Temperature measurement is facilitated by a digital temperature indicator, with the entire assembly securely mounted on a sturdy MS frame.
Experimentation/Learning Objectives :
Analyze the decomposition of Hydrogen Peroxide in the presence of an Iodide catalyst.
Predict conversion rates based on time-temperature data.
A 5-15 Amp combined socket with an earth connection, ensuring an earth voltage below 5 volts.
Necessary instruments, laboratory glassware, and chemicals as per the adopted system for analysis.
